Skills Recognition

Skills recognition is the process by which your existing skills, knowledge and experience gained throughout your life, regardless of how they have been acquired, are recognised towards the achievement of a nationally recognised qualification or statement of attainment. You may also have heard Skills referred to as, ‘Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)'.

What can I get from Skills Recognition?

The recognition pathway that has been designed for this course enables participants, who have demonstrated that they hold the necessary skills and knowledge, to attend a 1 day course instead of the two (2) day course imposed on new entrants into the industry.

Please note that RPL is currently only available in NSW.

Who is involved in recognition?

The main people involved in the recognition process are, you the participant, your workplace supervisor or boss and your course facilitator.

How do you get involved?

In order to work out if RPL is right for you, we recommend that you complete a Self Assessment. This contains a list of questions that have been put together to help you decide if you will be able to successfully complete an RPL application.

If you decide that recognition is right for you, you can download or request a copy of the Skills Recognition (RPL) Application.
